Bidding for project proposals 2012

The Arab Partnership has opened a bidding window for organisations to submit project proposals in Algeria.

Invitation for Arab Partnership funding in Algeria 2012-2013

The Arab Partnership was established by the UK Government to support those countries in the region that want to put the building blocks of more open, free societies, underpinned by vibrant economies, in place. The Arab Partnership works with host Governments, multilateral organisations and civil society in support of these objectives.

In Algeria, the Arab Partnership will support the ongoing reforms for a stable, democratic and prosperous future, through collaboration with international and national partners, technical assistance and project financing.  A particular focus of the Arab Partnership is supporting the opportunities and abilities of youth employability, rule of law and free media to participate in the economic and political life of their country.

The AP will begin a new funding cycle on 1 April, 2012, with four programmatic themes:

·          Supporting freedom of expression and the public voice,

·          Supporting good governance, with a focus on the rule of law,

·          Supporting inclusive economic growth, particularly youth employability

Projects should normally be of one year duration, although with sufficient justification multi-annual projects may be considered (up to three years). Arab Partnership funding is available to Algerian and non-Algerian organisations, although investment in local partnerships and capacity will be an important element in the assessment of Concept Notes by non-Algerian organisations.

In order to bid for funding, the Arab Partnership is now asking for Concept Notes to be sent to the address Arab.Partnership-Algeria@fco.gov.uk by 9 February 2012. Please use concept note format.

Project Concept Notes cover the following areas:

-           Brief background on the organisation and legal status in Algeria

-           Project purpose and rationale

-           Proposed activities and timeframe

-           Local partnerships and sustainability

-           Results and impact anticipated and how these will be monitored

-           Budget estimate

Bidders will be told whether or not their Concept Note has been approved by 20 February. Selected bidders will then be invited to submit full project proposals, with a provisional closing deadline of 15 March 2012. Further guidance on the project proposal format will be provided at this stage.

Please note that provisional approval at the Concept Note stage does not imply that funding support will be available.
